Below is the text of an email sent to us on 19th March, 2013, by the organisers of the Tasmanian Breast Cancer Network on last Saturday’s performance:
[quote-symbol symbol1]“On behalf of the committee of the Ongoing Journey Breast Cancer Conference held last weekend I wish to thank each and every member of Vox Harmony who attended on Saturday. It was almost a last minute decision to move it indoors, which in a way was a pity, but the sound in the hotel was magic.
I have had many messages commenting on the choir’s performance and each of you is to be congratulated.
Denise, your energy and ability to add that extra song (sorry, that was not my doing!), which I am sure could very easily turned in to a full on Vox Harmony City of Launceston Choir Concert, drive and enthusiasm was palpable throughout the performance.
Jill, your friendly and helpful assistance with all the bits and pieces including electricians was greatly appreciated.
The theme of the conference was set to cover what we survivors do once we have received the diagnosis, had surgery and then batten down the hatches for the road ahead. This includes a variety of invasive treatments, as well as fear and anxiety as well as the concern to all those around the person themselves about what lies ahead.
These issues were covered and the inclusion of the ceremony was a very much needed part, even though it is emotional. Tears were shed, I am sure you saw them there and perhaps some members of the choir had a lump in their throats at times, but this sort of emotion helps.
A wonderful mystery party with 120 attendees each banging on drums and shaking tambourines followed- and wow, did they let their hair down then! You would not recognise the ladies from the previous ceremony – now laughing heartily and faces full of joy.
I thank you for your very kind donation of the non acceptance of our donation to you, the Tasmanian Breast Cancer Network is not a fund raising group, we offer information, and support so this money will greatly assist us in the future.
Best wishes for the future and happy harmonising”
